Christopher James Design specializes in
the design, fabrication and installation
of custom cabinetry and furniture for
commercial and residential clients.

Our goal is to partner with clients to
create furniture which meets their
functional needs while incorporating the
newest ideas in design and construction.

With experience working with
professionals in the architectural and
interior design field we have been able
to stay abreast of trends in furniture
design and fabrication.  

With many of our projects we use
unconventional materials and building
techniques to craft unique installations.  
We also have extensive knowledge in
sourcing green  materials and using
environmentally friendly building
practices.

History

People find their calling in many way's and some never at all.  I was fortunate; I
kept trying and finally found my place.  After three separate stabs at the dot com
game in the late 90's and the birth of my son (Christopher James Kenji Lengel) I
finally craved something real.  I wanted to make a product which people actually
needed and would use.  After searching on Craig's List I came across a cabinet
shop for sale and low-and-behold, after hanging out for a month I was hooked.

Luckily I had a background in finish carpentry and cabinetry fabrication from my
college days and was able to dust off those skills and put them to good use.  I
have not looked back since opening our doors in January 2003

Not a day goes by that I do not learn something new; a new technique or
shortcut, a new material on the market or a different take on an old idea.

No matter how good you are you are always going to need help and how do you want to treat the people you spend one-half your
working hours with?  

Simple: people that are respected and made to feel truly valuable will never disappoint.   Over our five years in business we have
had the privilege to work a number of exceptional craftsmen.   Together we have form a guild of like minded people who offer
mutual support whether it be use of equipment; design ideas or assistance building or installing cabinetry.

As a result we are able to pool ideas; push each other and design and develop new ideas in a creative incubator.
